I was a 15 year teacher coming from a very distinguished school district. Last year was my first year in an urban setting and I struggled. Our principal attended a TLaC workshop last year and did a three hour PD for us in August. This year has been great because my systems and routines are there, my non-verbals are there, the control is there so I can really focus on teaching and not just managing.
